Radiant Heating Check List

  • System Pressure: 10-25 PSI.
  • Pressure Relief Valve: Not Leaking.
  • System Pump(s): If oiling is required, place 3-4 drops in each oiling cup (typically three cups).
  • Pilot Light: Light the pilot as per the manufacturer's procedures listed on the boiler jacket. If the boiler contains an electronic or intermittent ignition, the pilot will remain off and automatically light when the system thermostat calls for heat. NEVER ATTEMPT TO MANUALLY LIGHT THE PILOT ON ANY BOILER WITH AN ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM.
  • Boiler Start-up: Place the thermostat to the "highest" setting. The boiler will light and the pump will run. Place the thermostat to the "lowest" setting. The boiler will shut down and the pump will turn off. SET THE THERMOSTAT TO THE DESIRED TEMPERATURE FOR THE HEATING SEASON, AND LEAVE IT THERE.
  • Boiler Operation: When firing, the boiler should operate quietly with no excessive water, air, or banging noises. The boiler flame should remain within the fire box. While observing operation of the boiler, turn the electrical power off. Wait 5 seconds. Turn the power on while observing the boiler flame ignition. It must remain in the fire box for SAFE OPERATION.
